Colorado football coach Deion Sanders is expected to address his health status at a news conference Monday, following the revelation that his medical concerns earlier this year were serious enough for him to write a will.

A video filmed by his son, Deion Sanders Jr., and released late Sunday night showed Sanders speaking candidly on May 9 about the severity of his condition at the time.

"Mentally, emotionally, last night was tough, yesterday was tough, because I had to make a will," Sanders said in the video. "That's not easy at all, to think that you may not be here."

Sanders did not specify what health issue prompted the decision, but he appeared visibly emotional as he reflected on the uncertainty he was facing. The former NFL star has undergone multiple foot surgeries over the past few years and previously had two toes amputated due to blood circulation problems.

Despite his concern in May, Sanders' condition appeared to stabilize in the weeks that followed. He participated in Big 12 media days earlier this month and looked to be in good spirits. In a social media post, Sanders Jr. wrote that his father had endured "a hard fought battle, but it was a battle that was fought and won."

Sanders, 57, is entering his third season as Colorado's head coach. The Buffaloes open their college football season Aug. 29 at home against Georgia Tech.

Further details about his health are expected during Monday's media availability.
