A report earlier this week listed some damning news for Houston regarding head coach Tom Herman. The report, from NFL.com's Benjamin Allbright, said that Herman to Texas was "all but official", and that the move would be almost guaranteed as soon as Charlie Strong was ousted from the position.
Well, as more details start to emerge on that report, it looks likes less and less of it prove to be true.
From Jason Suchomel of Orangebloods.com:
Simply put, that report is premature, per multiple high-level sources. Now, Herman to Texas could very well happen, so those reports may wind up looking like they were accurate, but there is no back-channel deal in place with Herman. Things are nowhere near that stage.
Of course, Charlie Strong is still the head coach of the Longhorns, so all of this is moot until Texas actually takes the leap to fire him.

Even if Herman going to Texas is a "dream job" for him, it doesn't look like that matter right now. Herman already blasted the rumor as "bogus", so it looks like it is safe to assume that reported talks between him and the Longhorns were very premature.
Herman, who is 19-3 is his career at Houston, has been seen as a leading candidate for most head coaching jobs after his 13-1 performance and Peach Bowl win over Florida State in 2015. Herman also has a national title on his resume as the offensive coordinator of Ohio State's 2014 team.
