The 6'4", 245-pound McDonogh 35 defender out of New Orleans, Louisiana had interest and offers from plenty of big-time schools.
Winters was reportedly slated to make a trip to Syracuse over the weekend.
He had offers from Ole Miss, Cincinnati, Houston, Kansas, Oregon State and others.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the Winters family. We will update this story as details emerge on this tragedy.
