Did Robert Nkemdiche's Pro Day trump his personal, off-the-field issues?

Is Nkemdiche's talent enough to overlook the personal issue?

If you have watched college football over the past three seasons, then you already know that Robert Nkemdiche is a really good player with NFL potential, even thoughts of No. 1 overall pick potential at some points in his career.

However, personal issues have tarnished the shine on Nkemdiche's NFL Draft stock. He's dealt with marijuana issues during his tenure at Ole Miss, most notably being that he fell out of a hotel room window in December. Nkemdiche was charged with possession from the incident, and it has been a big part of why NFL scouts may have some problems signing off on drafting him.

Well, Nkemdiche just threw another wrench into their process, as his Pro Day with Ole Miss was described as "rare" and "special" by one NFL reporter. Nkemdiche didn't run the 40, but he apparently impressed in all of his other drills, enough to further raise the eyebrows of scouts and coaches.

Will this be enough to warrant the explosive defensive lineman moving up the draft boards? ESPN's Todd McShay has Nkemdiche all the way down at 31 in his mock draft, while his counterpart Mel Kiper has him at No. 19. Nkemdiche is clearly a quality talent, and it will be interesting over the next few weeks to see how he moves up and down draft boards as we get more information from teams heading into the Draft.

One thing is for sure, though: when Nkemdiche has his head on straight, he's a helluva player with the potential to completely disrupt opposing offenses. Surely one team will be willing to take on that risk.
