Four-star defensive end Donovan Winter won't play at Michigan State after a disastrous alleged decision has put his college future in question.
According to MLive, an officer was called to Winter's girlfriend's house Monday evening when her mother complained of a trespasser on the property and accused him of stealing the girlfriend's father's gun.
Winter was stopped by officers and reportedly confessed to taking the gun from a "field near his girlfriend's house," but noted he had stashed it at a friend's house.
A search of his vehicle reportedly turned up a gun believed to be matching the father's.
Reporters knew something was wrong when Winter's name was unexpectedly not on the table at his school, Bishop Moore, next to other seniors. It was then reported by the Orlando Sentinel that Winter was arrested Monday night on a burglary and larceny of a firearm charge, and as of Wednesday was reportedly being held on $2,000 bond and also awaiting a GPS device to be placed on him.
According to the report, Winter is no longer a student at the school.
The 6'4?, 235 pound recruit had offers from Tennessee, Michigan, Kentucky and Michigan State.
Michigan State did not detail the issue with Winter, but announced its 2017 class was full.
