ESPN analyst is already calling his shot with a surprising “early pick for a national championship”

They'll certainly be a contender.

The ACC has the current defending national champion in football with Clemson, but ESPN analyst David Hale predicted another ACC team will win the national title next season.

Hale wrote an ACC mailbag for ESPN, and he was asked which two schools would play for the ACC title next season.

Hale said he thinks Miami and Florida State will play for the ACC title, and he said the Seminoles are his early pick to win the national championship next season.

"And a developing (Deondre) Francois and a healthy Derwin James, to me, make Florida State my early pick for a national championship," Hale wrote.

The Seminoles return plenty of talent, but they also lost star running back Dalvin Cook to the NFL. However, they did bring in the top running back in the country in their 2017 recruiting class in Cam Akers.

Though Florida State will be among the most talented teams in the country next season, they also play a very difficult schedule. The Seminoles play Alabama in Atlanta to start the year, and they have road games at Clemson and at Florida later in the season. A pair of home games against Miami and Louisville will also be challenging.

Florida State's last national championship came in 2013, and they made the playoffs the following season.
