ESPN had been promoting an exclusive interview with former Baylor coach Art Briles all week leading up to Gameday on Saturday morning. He was supposed to publicly apologize for his actions as the head coach of the football team and for his compete mishandling of the sexual assault scandal that plagued his football team.

When Gameday showed it on their program, naturally the hosts and analysts had some reactions. Most were fairly similar to Finebaum's in that they thought the apology was a terrible one and Samantha Ponder specifically said that he didn't say what he apologized for at all. Fellow analyst David Pollack tried to say something after and chime in, but he was interrupted by ESPN's production truck who must have switched the audio over as we can hear them laughing and joking in the truck.

It sounded like they were joking about NASCAR or racing at the very least, which is not ideal considering the venue for Gameday is Bristol Motor Speedway. Whatever they were laughing or joking about should have not been caught on the mics and someone is undoubtedly going to have to pay for this misstep because the topic the crew was discussing was easily the most serious topic of the season so far.
