ESPN names the No. 1 player in college football for this season

This might come as a surprise to some.

ESPN's CFB-rank has finally named a No. 1 player in college football, and it's not running back Leonard Fournette, who is the current favorite to win the Heisman. Of course, the player they went with is very deserving: Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson.

Watson — the third place finisher in the 2015 Heisman voting — became the first player ever to throw for 4,000 yards and rush for 1,000 yards in the same season. He nearly led Clemson to a national title last season, and he is definitely more than worthy of the No. 1 spot.

The aforementioned Fournette is No. 2 on the list. He is followed by two more running backs: Stanford's Christian McCaffrey and Florida State's Dalvin Cook. Texas A&M defensive end Myles Garrett rounds out the Top 5.
