Potentially the biggest recruit of the 2017 class has made a commitment!
Offensive tackle Isaiah Wilson (6-foot-7, 350 pounds, Brooklyn, NY) is a five-star recruit and he is the No. 2 overall player in ESPN's recruiting rankings. His recruiting decision came down to three teams: Alabama, Georgia, and Michigan, and on Friday, he made his decision via Facebook by announcing a commitment to Georgia.
This is a big commitment for Georgia, who experienced a lot of troubles with their offensive line in 2016. There is a very good chance that Wilson plays immediately in 2017, as the Bulldogs need new guys to help quarterback Jacob Eason and running backs Nick Chubb and Sony Michel.
While Alabama was a finalist, they may have fallen out of favor after the Tide gained several offensive line commits over the past few weeks. The Crimson Tide currently have five offensive tackles committed in the 2017 class, and Wilson simply wasn't a fit.
Georgia now has 20 commitments in their 2017 recruiting class, and the Wilson commitment puts them within striking distance of Alabama and Ohio State. They could conceivably catch those two if they continue to recruit at this level.
