Ex-Baylor coach Art Briles already has plans for his return to coaching

Is the Briles comeback tour planned for a sooner date than you would expect?

The sexual assault scandal at Baylor resulted in several people losing their job, most notable of which was football head coach Art Briles. Briles was canned back in May, and many since have expected him to be out of coaching for at least two year before getting another job.

Briles, however, doesn't see it that way. Speaking with KCEN in Texas, Briles said he expects to be coaching again in 2017.

In the interview, Briles did not specify if he would be coaching in the NFL or in college, or if he would take a coordinator job or a head coaching position.

Some in the media have expressed the opinion that Briles should not return to the college coaching ranks at any point, but at 60 years old, Briles still has plenty of years left to add to his coaching resume.

Briles will have the black mark of the Baylor scandal on him for a while, but will that actually stop a school from hiring him? Briles completely transformed the Baylor football program on the field, and if a team is looking for a new head coach after the 2016 season, then Briles will certainly be one of the top candidates in terms of on-field acumen.

Briles reportedly reached a financial settlement with Baylor last month, so it is unlikely that money will be the main cause for a coaching return. However, if the right job springs up at the end of the year, you should expect Briles to be at the front of the line for an application.
