Marcus Freeman Sends Message to Notre Dame Critics
The Fighting Irish have had to face a murderer's row of opponents to get to this point. They had to slay the 4th-ranked Penn State Nittany Lions and the 2nd-ranked Georgia Bulldogs to get here.
But despite their tough road to the College Football Playoff National Championship, there are some who question why the Irish even made the field. Being that Notre Dame is not connected to a conference which some also believe gives them an unfair advantage. When asked about those critics, Notre Dame coach Marcus Freeman said that he and athletic director, Pete Bevacqua will continue to do what is best for the program moving forward.
"I'm a guy that just [thinks], 'Tell us what we're doing and let's go, and you move forward,'" Freeman said. "I love where we're at right now. [Athletic director] Pete Bevacqua and our Notre Dame administration will continue to make decisions that are best for our program."
However, Penn State head coach James Franklin offered a different perspective, saying that the selection committee needs to view things "from a big-picture perspective."
