Following the Hurricanes' first loss of the season, fans went wild with reactions on social media.

"It's about time. No one should be shocked. They was literally bound to happen. Sucks for Miami, but they have proven to be a little overrated," one user said on X, formerly known as Twitter.

"Miami was never a top 10 team and skated by for the season beating nobody and now they finally got exposed and I am glad because not actual teams who deserve to be ranked higher than them will be," another user said.

Michael Irvin Gets Honest on Hurricanes

With the University of Miami being one of the top-rated teams in college football this season, the Hurricanes began to receive even more national attention than usual. And that also meant the lights were also on legendary Miami receiver Michael Irvin, who is a regular at games during the season. With Miami having a real shot at the College Football Playoff and winning a national title this season, Irving says his passion has been one of the drivers.

"I'm high intensity and animated, but it's the emotions and the passion, You're not going to accomplish anything without that passion. The passion is what pushes you past the pain no matter what the deal is. This team is learning that. We're a different brand. People wait on Miami. To see this, now? It's everything," Irvin said.

"One of the kids said to me, 'We love coming out of the tunnel seeing you here. It means something. We talked for years about the importance of getting back to it on the football field and now that they're doing it, it's important for us to show up. I don't care who it is. You've got to show up."
