Fans React to Missouri Tigers Near Loss to Vanderbilt

Coming into Saturday's matchup with the Missouri Tigers, not many people gave the Vanderbilt Commodores much of a chance to win. After all, Missouri came in undefeated at 3-0 on the season.

Fans React to Vanderbilt's Loss to Missouri

But Vanderbilt proved that they came to play, giving Missouri all that it could handle. The Tigers escaped narrowly with a 30-27 victory over Vanderbilt. But all of the reaction was centered on the ending of the game. Vanderbilt kicker Brock Taylor had a chance to send the game into overtime and hooked a chip shot wide left.

Taylor's missed kick drew mixed reactions on Twitter.

"I'll never understand how college and NFL football teams allow kickers that just... miss... kicks. I feel like there have to be pools of kickers in the USA who won't miss simple kicks. Or snappers that won't mess up the snaps idk man it seems so SILLY. Would love opinions on this," one user Tweeted on X, formerly known as Twitter.

"Vanderbilt never wanted to win this game fr," another added.

"So Missouri is moving down the poll tomorrow right?" another said.

Taylor was pretty clearly distraught after the play as teammates came over to console him after the missed field goal.

As for the Tigers they may have averted crisis in the game, but one ultimately has to wonder how that will affect their future. As a team with hopes of being one of the final four teams selected to the college football playoffs, narrowly beating an unranked Vanderbilt squad may not bode well for them in the standings next week.

Nick Saban Throws Shade at Vandy

Even before the matchup, Vanderbilt was at the center of controversy. Former Alabama head coach Nick Saban had some harsh words for the program. Saban noted that despite playing in an elite college football conference like the SEC, winning in their stadium is not a difficult task.

"The only place you're going to play in the SEC that's not hard to play, Vanderbilt," Saban said.

"When you play at Vanderbilt, you have more fans there than they have, and that's no disrespect to them, it's the truth,"
