Five Minnesota players may no longer be allowed to play home games

How does this happen?

A total of five Minnesota football players have now been served restraining orders in relation to a sexual assault investigation that started in September.

The Minneapolis Star-Tribune is reporting that the five players — KiAnte Hardin, Ray Buford, Dior Johnson, Carlton Djam, and Tamario Johnson — will not be allowed to play home games due to the restraining order listing Minnesota's TCF Bank Stadium as one of the locations restricted by the order. The woman who initiated the order reportedly works at the stadium during home games.

Four of the players had originally been suspended back in Week 2 of the season for what was initially termed as a violation of team rules. They have since returned from the suspensions, but now the restraining order will prevent them from playing further games. Minnesota plays at home on Saturday against Rutgers.

A lawyer for all five players is contesting the restraining order, but a hearing on the matter won't be held until Tuesday, per the Tribune.

Hardin, a starting defensive back, is the most significant player among the restraining order. Buford, a freshman, is the only other one of the five to receive playing time.
