Everyone in the college football world is keeping close tabs on Jackson Carman and that is the nature of the beast when discussing the No. 1 offensive tackle prospect in the Class of 2018. Not everyone believes that Carman is atop the list at the position but the 247Sports composite installs the rising senior from Fairfield (Ohio) as the No. 1 player at the position and a top-10 overall recruit and that illustrates just how talented the young man is.
With that in mind, Josh Helmholdt of Rivals brings word of Carman's top five at this moment and it includes the likes of Ohio State (the in-state power), Florida State, Clemson, USC and Big Ten sleeper Wisconsin. Carman's high school coach, Jason Krause, had this to say about the list.
"He certainly has a top five in his mind right now. He is not ready to say that's his final five, but he's got five that are ahead of the pack. At the end of the summer he is going to narrow it down to five for sure and let everyone know before recruiting starts in September."

As noted, the top five isn't "final" but it is usually indicative of the programs that have the best chance to sign the 6'6", 305-pound tackle prospect. Carman has already set foot on campus at both Clemson and USC as well as Ohio State and his every waking trip will be under the microscope as the process moves along.
One program is going to come away with a huge recruiting win and it will probably come from this quintet of schools.
