Florida State Coach Mike Norvell Infuriated After Florida Plants Flag At Midfield, Leads To Brawl

Florida defeated rival Florida State on Saturday night 31-11, and following the game tempers flared after the away team players planted their flag at midfield.

After this took place, Florida State's Mike Norvell snubbed the postgame handshake from Florida head coach Billy Napier.

During the postgame, Norvell spoke about pulling the flag out of Bobby Bowden field.

"That's not going to happen here. I'm going to do everything in my power to make sure we don't experience that again."

"I told him [Napier] what I thought," Norvell continued. "They won the game. They have the right to celebrate, just like we have in the previous years."

On the other hand, Napier apologized on behalf of his team regarding the situation.

"What happened there at the end of the game is not who we want to be as a program," Napier said. "It's a distraction from a really well-played football game."

Overall, Florida State had five lost fumbles (school record), and many fans pointed out it was a representation of a disappointing season.

All in all, the Seminoles ended the year with a 2-10 record, which is their worst finish since 1974.

On the other hand, the Gators had a 7-5 record this season, which is their best finish since 2020.

In view of their all-time head-to-head matchups, Florida leads 38-28-2.
