Florida State LB has returned to spring practice

Michael Thomas was declared ineligible for the 2015 season last August.

Florida State football is going through spring practice, along with all other college football teams across the country. Less than a week after Jimbo Fisher praised his team's resolve after having what he described as the 'worst practice in six years' the 'Noles got a key defensive player back.

Linebacker Michael Thomas, who was declared ineligible for the 2015 season, returned to practice on Monday, as first reported by Tomahawk Nation. Thomas had been dealing with an illness that kept him out of practice on Saturday.

Thomas has had a somewhat troublesome career thus far at Florida State — he took a redshirt in 2013 after seeing the field for four games as a reserve. He saw the field for the first time last season, but was suspended for the first half of the season. He was ejected for targeting during the Boston College game in Week 13, and suspended for the first half against Florida the following week.

Thomas suffered a shoulder injury during this year's spring, for which he was expected to miss most of the 2015 season.

If Thomas can stay eligible, he can give FSU some much-needed production at the linebacker position.
