Former Bama QB Greg McElroy isn't picking the Tide to win the title this year

Wait, he's not picking his own team?

It looks like Greg McElroy has effectively transformed from Alabama alumnus to objective college football voice.

ESPN released their experts' picks for the College Football Playoff, and like everyone else, McElroy had his picks in there. McElroy has Alabama, Florida State, Clemson and Ohio State in his final four, but in a shocker, he picks Florida State to beat Alabama in the semifinals. He then has the Seminoles beating Ohio State in the finals to give Florida State its second national title in four seasons.

The pick is surprising, mainly because there would be nothing wrong if McElroy just took the homer route and picked Alabama. Several other writers did just that, and it's is intriguing that McElroy opted for Florida State instead.

It's also interesting that McElroy has a lot of confidence in Ohio State. Some people think they might be able to make the Playoffs, but not many have them in the title game. At the very least, McElroy doesn't have Alabama or Clemson in the championship game and that is rare.
