Former coach who worked with Lane Kiffin: He's an 'overbearing a**h***'

That seems par for the course.

Lane Kiffin is many things and nice to everyone is not one of them. He's been described as an offensive genius and a play calling savant, but his issue has always been getting along with others and playing by the rules or going by the book. In a lengthy article by Bleacher Report, there was one coach who specifically mentioned why Kiffin wasn't easy to deal with.

"I've never seen a guy who knows his craft like he does be such an overbearing assh—e," said the coach. "Lane does what Lane wants to do, no matter the consequences."

And that was pretty much the feeling a lot of Alabama staffers probably felt when it was announced he would take over the FAU program. Also in that B/R article were some quotes from those staffers about how Kiffin was going to be gone regardless of if he had gotten the FAU job or not because Nick Saban was so tired of him.

"The last thing Nick wants is for something like that to infiltrate his process. He won't let that happen. One way or the other, Lane wasn't coaching at Alabama after last season. Nick just cut it one game short," said one of the staff members.

In fact, the only reason Kiffin lasted so long was because he basically two quarterbacks who would have been mediocre anywhere else and made them phenomenal passers in Jake Coker and Blake Sims. So now we know how he keeps getting jobs and eventually losing them. It should be interesting to see if he can last at FAU and make them any good this season.
