Lewis, 22, was booked into the Tangipahoa Parish Jail on charges of second-degree battery, false imprisonment and criminal damage to property, according to the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office.
Authorities said the woman contacted the sheriff's office June 23 and reported that Lewis had attacked her at a residence on Bridget Road in the Hammond area. She later sought medical treatment for injuries she said she suffered during the alleged incident.
Investigators spent approximately a week working the case before obtaining an arrest warrant from a judge. Lewis subsequently turned himself in to authorities.
Additional details about what allegedly occurred inside the residence were not immediately released.
A Southeastern Louisiana athletics spokesperson told Fox 8 that Lewis is no longer a member of the school's football program.
Lewis last played for the Lions during the 2024 season after transferring from Arkansas State. He recorded 26 tackles, including 13 solo stops, and three sacks during his season with Southeastern Louisiana.
The Louisiana native previously starred at Terrebonne High School, where he emerged as a three-star prospect in the 2022 recruiting class. ESPN ranked Lewis as the No. 52 overall prospect in Louisiana.
Lewis initially committed to Tulane before changing his commitment and signing with Arkansas State. He later transferred to Southeastern Louisiana.
