This will be a hard one for former Nebraska defensive coordinator Mark Banker to get over.

In an interview with Omaha.com, Banker admits he was fired by head coach Mike Riley over the phone while Banker was in the middle of a recruiting trip.
In his first comments since Riley announced Banker's contract would not be renewed, Banker said he was "disappointed" Riley couldn't tell Banker — who'd known Riley for 20 years — in a face-to-face conversation.
Instead, Banker got a call Wednesday as he was headed to Tulsa to recruit. At the time, he was in the Denver airport, returning from Oregon, where he'd been visiting with family.

Banker admitted that he hasn't talked with Riley since the firing.
Banker was fired earlier this week after an up and down season with Nebraska. The end of the season saw Nebraska give up 62 points to Ohio State, 40 to Iowa, and 38 to Tennessee. It looks like the Huskers will be replacing him with former UConn head coach Bob Diaco.
