Former Duke Football Player Admits To Murdering High School Classmate

Former Duke football player Brandon Braxton is now being charged with first-degree murder after admitting to investigators he is responsible for the death of a North Carolina real estate agent from July 2024.

Whitney Hurd, 32, who was a Charlotte-based realtor living in an high upscale community, was killed inside her townhome last summer.

In view of Braxton's relationship with Hurd, evidently they were classmates and "friends" at Providence High School.

On March 20, after being taken in for a separate charge of trespassing, Braxton made the shocking confession to Mecklenburg Sheriff's Office, "I killed Whitney Hurd."

Notably, Hurd had been reported missing last summer, and three days later she was discovered dead with multiple stabbed wounds in her home.

At the time, Braxton was considered a person of interest as his fingerprints were found all over Hurd's home and car.

According to police reports, Braxton began showing up at Hurd's house on random occasions.

There were multiple incidents that included Braxton falling asleep in Hurd's driveway and also a 911 call after he broke into her house.

In view of the recent solved murder case, Braxton also is being charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, as he reportedly stole Hurd's BMW X3 vehicle and phone.

"Neighbors said they saw an unidentified male driving from the house in the car on July 4. Officials tracked Hurd's phone to its last known location and discovered the BMW, but no phone," (per New York Post).

In the last eight months since the killing of Hurd, Braxton, 33, has been arrested seven times for crimes that include: assault on a female, simple assault, injury to property, and larceny.

His next court date is set for April 9.

Braxton played football for Duke University from 2010-2013, appearing in 43 games he accumulated 93 catches for 893 yards to go with three touchdowns. He also played defense and had 51 tackles.
