Lee's mother, Lacresia Brown, shared the news and described her son as a fighter who never lost his love for football.
Lee played for Louisiana State University from 2019-21, appearing in multiple games during that stretch. He finished his Tigers career with 11 receptions for 112 yards and one touchdown before transferring to Louisiana Tech to finish out his college career.
Before reaching the college level, Lee had already made a name for himself in Louisiana football circles.
A standout at Amite High School, he helped lead the program to the 2A state championship in 2018 and was ranked the No. 6 overall recruit in Louisiana in the 2019 class.
Both LSU and Louisiana Tech shared messages of condolences on social media after news of his passing spread.
"The day before he died, he told everyone that he loved them," his mother said, via WDSU. "He didn't like that it came back, because he was trying to heal, he was trying to get back out there."
For those who knee him, Lee was remembered not just as a talented player, but as someone who kept fighting even when the battle became much bigger than football.
"That's what kept him here, those types of moments, the way he worked out, the way he fought, he fought to the end," his mother said. "He always kept God first; he was in church every Sunday."
