Former Ohio State standout, third-overall pick passes away at just 65

Former Ohio State offensive lineman John Hicks passed away at the age of 65 due to complications with diabetes, per 10tv.

Hicks played for Ohio State from 1970-1973 before being drafted No. 3 overall by the New York Giants.

Hicks finished as a runner-up for the Heisman Trophy, was a two-time First Team All-Big Ten member, a two-time First Team All-American, an Outland Trophy winner and a Lombardi Award winner. He also was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame.

After earning a Rookie of the Year award, Hicks only played three additional seasons in the NFL before injuries derailed his career.
