Malcolm Lamar is a huge defensive end target for a lot of schools this recruiting cycle because of his frame at 6'5" and 250 pounds. Some recruiting experts believed that the Armwood High School (Seffner, Fla.) product was favoring the home state Florida Gators as he said earlier in the summer that they were recruiting him the hardest and the campus "felt like home" to him. However, they didn't quite make the cut for his new top five list:

Lamar is ranked as the No. 7 strong side defensive end in the country and No. 35 recruit in the state of Florida by the 247Sports Composite Rankings. Eight of the nine predictions in the 247Sports crystal ball were made in favor of the Gators.
Lamar did tell Scout that Florida would be getting one of his five official visits though so the Gators and coach Jim McElwain are not out of the picture quite yet. He is undecided who will get his last visit though as he told Scout:
"That's the only one I have scheduled, but I'm still going to take an official visit to Florida. So, I got Oregon, Florida, Alabama, Tennessee, and I don't know about the last one.
"Probably Ole Miss or LSU; I have to choose between those schools. I still want to take my Florida visit."
Don't count out the hometown Gators quite yet as McElwain and his staff have been making huge strides in the 2019 class so there's no reason to think they can't do the same thing in this cycle.
Here are some of his highlights:
