Four-star ATH Braden Lenzy spurns Michigan State, announces powerhouse commitment

Braden Lenzy has announced his college destination.

Brian Kelly and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish are amassing a big-time recruiting class for 2018 and the staff landed another commitment on Wednesday evening. Four-star ATH prospect Braden Lenzy was weighing offers from a number of high-profile programs but, in the end, he announced that he will be headed to South Bend next season.

Lenzy, who stands at 6'0 and 175 pounds, ranks as the No. 10 ATH prospect in the 2018 class according to the 247Sports composite and he is a consensus top-200 recruit. In announcing his commitment, he spoke with Tom Loy of 247Sports and he explained that his visit to South Bend in mid-February greatly aided in clarifying his decision.

"Everything about the visit made helped make this decision the right one. It all clicked for me. Just walking around for the day, getting a feel for everything, I just saw myself there. I saw the tradition and it was obvious to me that this was the place I wanted to play football. People say when you know you know, well, I felt that at some places, but didn't truly feel it until I visited Notre Dame and realized it was the place for me."

In addition, Lenzy reportedly indicated that Notre Dame assistant Brian Polian was a huge factor in his choice and this is a big-time get for the Irish. The versatile prospect chose Notre Dame over the likes of Michigan State, USC, UCLA, Oregon and Stanford, and Brian Kelly's staff going into Portland (Ore.) to land a commitment is particularly noteworthy as well.

It remains to be seen as to what position Braden Lenzy will play at the college level but he is an excellent talent and this is huge for Notre Dame.
