Four-star CB Donald Johnson turns down Notre Dame to head out of state with his commitment

A nice commitment for the young man.

Four-star cornerback and Indianapolis native Donald Johnson had several big time offers including ones from Notre Dame and Minnesota. However, he's decided to head out west in his commitment as he detailed on his Twitter account:

Here's part of what he said in his tweet that read like a letter to his mom:

"...So to my number one on her day I would like to announce that I am accepting a full ride scholarship to THE UNIVERSITY OF IOWA!! GO HAWKEYES! HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOMMA I LOVE YOU THIS ONES FOR YOU" 

The 6-foot, 170-pound CB was "warm" on a Notre Dame offer according to Scout and had offers from Indiana, Purdue, Duke and Illinois among others. He's ranked as the No. 31 CB in the class of 2018 according to Scout and is the No. 4 recruit in the state.
