Four-star CB spurns Clemson, Florida for this 3-win team

That's a bold commitment!

That's a lot of confidence towards a team.

Four-star cornerback Deon Jones (6-foot-1, 180 pounds, Oxon Hill, MD) had reportedly been favoring Clemson in the days before his commitment. However, Jones spurned the Tigers on Wednesday, instead announcing his commitment to home-state Maryland.

Jones has a lot of confidence in the Terps, and there is a reason why: new Maryland coach D.J. Durkin has been killing it on the recruiting trail recently. Maryland has several blue-chippers on deck for the 2017 recruiting class, as they hope to rebuild from a dreadful three-win season in 2015.

According to the 247Sports Composite, Jones is the No. 13 cornerback and No. 105 overall player of the 2017 recruiting cycle. He also had offers from Florida and Ohio State, among others.
