Well this got interesting in a hurry.
On Saturday, four-star defensive back Kalon Gervin (5-foot-11, 180 pounds, Detroit, Mi.) suddenly announced that he had decommitted from Notre Dame.
"I will be stepping off on my commitment to Notre Dame," Gervin said on his Twitter account. "This is the best decision for me and my family."
With Gervin decommitted, it looks like other schools will ramp up their efforts to land the four-star athlete. 247Sports is already reporting that Oregon is showing renewed interest in Gervin, and Michigan may definitely be back in play with Gervin a recruiting free agent.
Gervin did not say if he was completely done with Notre Dame, so the Fighting Irish might still be a contender.
With the decommit, Notre Dame now has 11 members in their 2018 recruiting class. Formerly No. 2, Notre Dame has fallen to fifth in 247Sports' recruiting rankings.
