One of the top recruits for 2017 is now back on the market, as four-star defensive end Robert Beal (6-foot-4, 230 pounds, Norcross, GA) has decommitted from Notre Dame. 247Sports first had the report.
Beal is one of the top recruits out of the state of Georgia for 2017, and the timing of his decommitment is not surprising. Many recruits and teams re-assess where there are after National Signing Day for the previous class, and February and March is a time where a lot of recruits start to reconsider a previous commitment.
Per 247Sports, the Fighting Irish could still be a player for Beal's commitment. However, they will now be contending with the likes of Florida State and Georgia. Beal will actually be visiting Florida State this weekend.
