Four-star LSU decommit Derek Stingley has two schools emerging in recruitment

This is promising for two schools.

Four-star defensive back Derek Stingley Jr. (6-foot-0, 170 pounds, Baton Rouge, La.) still has a long way to go in his recruitment, but it looks like two teams are emerging the most for him.

In an interview with Rivals, Stingley spoke most about LSU and Stanford as teams he is most involved with right now in his recruitment. Stingley, a 2019 recruit, still has a year and a half before he has to make a decision.

Stingley was previously committed to LSU, but he decommitted back in April, citing that he had committed to early in the process. Despite the decommit, Stingley was still very high on the home-state Tigers.

"An offer to play college football at LSU is definitely a dream come true," Stingley said back when he decommitted from the Tigers. "I was so excited to receive that offer that I committed prior to the start of my 10th grade year of school. My signing date is two recruiting cycles away. After prayer and discussions with my family, we have decided that it is in my best interest to decommit from LSU, and fully re-open my recruitment."

Stingley is rated as a four-star by Rivals.
