One of the top defensive line recruits for 2017 has officially made a commitment.
According to 247Sports, four-star defensive tackle Darnell Ewell (6-foot-4, 295 pounds, Norfolk, VA) has committed to play at Notre Dame. He was also considering Alabama and Ohio State, among others.
"It was really exciting," Ewell told 247 about his commitment. "The coaches were really, really excited."

Ewell is ranked the No. 9 defensive tackle in his class, and he gives a boost to a Notre Dame recruiting class that had been sparse on the defensive line. Ewell is the 16th commit for the Fighting Irish for 2017, and their class ranks fourth — just behind Ohio State, Georgia, and Alabama — over at 247Sports.
