It looks like they aren't just a basketball school anymore.
Duke football was a laughing stock for many seasons, and deservedly so, as they were a terrible team inside of a mediocre football conference. However, under head coach David Cutcliffe, the Blue Devils have become respectable, winning 27 games in the past three seasons. Duke even won the Pinstripe Bowl in 2015, their first bowl win since 1960. 1960!!!
The turnaround is clearly good enough for blue-chip recruits to seriously consider the Blue Devils, and that is completely evident by four-star linebacker Ellis Brooks (6-foot-2, 233 pounds, Richmond, VA) announced his commitment to Duke on Thursday.
Brooks also had offers from Michigan, Notre Dame, Clemson, and Michigan State.
Sure it's just one four-star recruit, but considering where the Duke program was 10 years ago... The program had a total of 22 wins from 1995-2007. The 27 they've had in the past three years is ridiculous success compared to what they had experienced previously.
