"We are thrilled to have Mark, Les and Danny join FOX Sports for what is going to be our best college football season yet," John Entz, FOX Sports President of Production & Executive Producer said. "Mark and Les give us decades of coaching experience and an inside knowledge of the college game, while Danny is a polished broadcaster with a great reputation. We can't wait to get the season started later this week."
Helfrich, who coached at Oregon from 2013-16, will call games alongside play-by-play announcer Justin Kutcher and fellow color commentator Petros Papdakis. The trio will open the season with Saturday's game between Maryland and Texas at 12:00 pm ET on FS1.
Miles, a former national and multi-time SEC champion at LSU, will take on his first broadcasting position by making his debut in Week 3 joining play-by-play announcer Tim Brando, fellow analyst Spencer Tillman and sideline reporter Holly Sonders for Northern Illinois at Nebraska on Saturday, Sept. 16 at 12:00 pm ET on FS1.
Kanell will join play-by-play announcer Eric Collins and fellow analyst AJ Hawk for Liberty at Baylor at 7:00 pm ET on FS2 in Week 1. The former Florida State standout has contributed to ESPN broadcasts from 2010-17 as a college football game and studio analyst, as well as co-host for the weekday radio show "Rusillo & Kanell."
