Like ESPN, FOX Sports is now laying off some of its top reporters

This is absolutely bizarre.

ESPN is far from the only sports media conglomerate making changes recently.

FOX Sports is going through a massive transition, as their site is transitioning more towards video over written content. As part of that, many of the top reporters in college football no longer have a home, as Stewart Mandel announced on Tuesday that he was part of the company layoffs.

According to Bloomberg, Mandel was one of 20 writers who saw his position with FOX Sports eliminated this week.

The changes also affect former ESPN reporter and current FOX Sports writer Bruce Feldman, who says he no longer has a written home for any of his reporting. Feldman will be staying on with the network as a sideline reporter. Feldman alluded to on the Audible podcast with Mandel that he would be finding a new home for his writing very soon.

FOX Sports' cuts come after ESPN has laid off over 100 television and editorial staff over the past two months. For ESPN, the moves have been called a cost-cutting measure, but that doesn't appear to be the deal over at FOX; per Awful Announcing, FOX Sports is going away from written content entire despite turning a profit in the recent year.

We wish those affected by the layoffs the best in coming months as they try to find new employment.
