Good news for injured Notre Dame linebacker Jaylon Smith

When news broke that Notre Dame linebacker Jaylon Smith would have to undergo reconstructive knee surgery, fans learned that the prognosis was not great. Not only would Smith need repairs to the ACL and LCL in the left knee, but some feared that there could possibly be nerve damage.

No need to fear that any longer.

Smith underwent the surgery on Thursday, and Sports Illustrated is reporting that the surgery was a success and that there was no nerve damage in Smith's knee.

Recovery now awaits Smith, which should take between six and nine months. Smith, who recorded 114 total tackles this year for the Fighting Irish, will soon decided whether or not he will enter the NFL Draft or return to Notre Dame for his senior season.
