And in the world of the Internet, who really cares that the post on X/Twitter wasn't actually from Gundy, the son of OSU coach Mike Gundy?

Anyway, the story goes like this: The fake Gundy replied to a tweet about Oklahoma State trackster Sarah Stair, announcing that "I'm coming back." It caused a firestorm, all from people who believed it was real. And not just sports fans — but major media outlets.

So, yes, the post was a hoax. Still, it's been viewed more than 6 million times ... and counting.

For the record, Gundy entered the transfer portal in December. He initially committed to Ohio University, then backed out, and remains on the lookout for a new school.

"I've got him working in the office. He's gotta be there at 7:55 in the morning," Mike Gundy said of Gunnar said before an Oklahoma State spring practice, via The Oklahoman. "He's with me, he's working, and then he's gonna leave in May and go play.

"He doesn't know where yet, but he's gonna leave in May."

Gundy only has to wait a few more weeks before the transfer portal opens in mid-April.

"Over three years at OSU, Gunnar appeared in nine games, completing 54.8% of his passes for 449 yards and four touchdowns," wrote Scott Wright of The Oklahoman. "He rushed for 120 yards, including a 10-yard touchdown run in his final game as a Cowboy, the Texas Bowl in December.

"The transfer portal opens for Division I football players in mid-April, which will spark the next round of player movement, and should lead to additional opportunities for players like Gunnar."

As for the fake Gunnar? Yeah, he probably needs to get out more. Or get a girlfriend. Or keep fooling the Internet. For some people, that is championship enough.
