Maintenance on a football field is rough. It takes a lot of water and a lot of fertilizer to keep grass-fields in top shape during the fall months. It's easy to make a mistake and mess up part of the field.

Well, one groundskeeper for St. Edward High in Elgin, IL made such a mistake and he didn't mess up part of the field... he messed up all of it.
From the Elgin Courier-News:
"It was an honest mistake made in the mixing of chemicals for the field and they feel terrible about it," athletic director P.J. White said. "Someone grabbed the wrong bottle when they were mixing chemicals."
White went on to say that other local high schools have been helpful, offering St. Edward their own fields when they aren't using them. White also mentioned that this just accelerated plans for St. Edward to consider resurfacing the field.
