2018 wide receiver Micah Jones presents the considerable upside that only a 6-foot-5, 200-pound athlete can bring at the position and, on Friday, he announced that his college football career will be spent in South Bend as a member of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

Jones, who attends school at Warren Township (Ill.), ranks as one of the top 50 wide receivers in the 2018 class and as a consensus four-star prospect according to the 247Sports composite. The gifted pass-catcher reportedly chose Notre Dame over schools like Michigan State, Ole Miss, Iowa and others, and he told Gus Ramos of 247Sports why he made the choice.
"I thought all the way around that these people are here for me and are going to prepare me for the rest of my life. Not just for football. The Notre Dame coaching staff, I really have a deep connection with them. I think we are on the up and coming. The team now is building something special. People are really sleeping on Notre Dame and its time for them to wake up."
Notre Dame was seen as the favorite throughout the process for Jones and this is a nice pick-up for Brian Kelly and his staff. In fact, the Irish now sport a top-three recruiting class in the country according to 247Sports and, with all of the turmoil surrounding Kelly's tenure in South Bend, that could be a huge step toward reestablishing solid footing.
