The Jacksonville Jaguars received some very bad news about one of their draft picks late last week with the announcement that first round pick Jalen Ramsey suffered a "small tear" in his meniscus during on-field workouts. The Jags released a statement regarding the No. 5 overall pick that said Ramsey would be seeking a second opinion as to whether or not he will need surgery, which would prolong his rehabilitation process.
As bad as this sounds, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Sunday that Ramsey, who is going to visit renowned knee surgeon Dr. James Andrews this week, is expected by Jacksonville to have surgery on the knee but as far as recovery goes, he'll be back in time for the season opener against the Green Bay Packers.
This is great news for the Jags, who in picking Ramsey, is expecting to have a much-improved defense just in time for the 2015-16 season. Having Ramsey full-go for the whole season is a huge component of that happening. Ramsey had 181 total tackles and 15 tackles for loss in three season with Florida State, earning All-American honors twice.
