In true Jim Harbaugh fashion, the enigmatic and ever-intriguing head coach of the Michigan Wolverines released a thoroughly blank depth chart in advance of his team's season opener against Hawaii on Saturday. Moments after that release, though, Harbaugh was asked about Michigan's quarterback situation and he revealed that a decision has been made as to who will start the opener.
Of course, Harbaugh would not let the world know who his choice was between John O'Korn, Wilton Speight and Shane Morris, and even with the caveat that his announcement will come "before Saturday", the fan base still may not receive the information.
Finally, it appears that the three players in question, on the bright side, already know who the starter will be.
It certainly would not come as a surprise to anyone if the quarterback choice did not trickle out before the game begins in Ann Arbor on Sept. 3, though at least the team will be aware of the player that will take the first snap. Beyond that, Michigan could, at least in theory, go with a multi-QB approach against the Rainbow Warriors, especially with full knowledge that the Wolverines enter the contest as more than 40-point favorite.
Regardless of who the quarterback "winner" is, the position will be under a microscope throughout the season, and without acceptable play under center, the Wolverines will be drawing dead when it comes to potentially achieving the team's goals in 2016.
