The NCAA is now allowing coaches to re-tweet (and/or favorite) the thoughts of unsigned high school prospects, and this revelation could have a real impact on the recruiting trail. On Monday night, Jim Harbaugh joined the party and given that it was also the first he ever used the re-tweet function, Michigan's head coach made news in the process.
Harbaugh's first re-tweet came to reaffirm the commitment of top-flight 2017 quarterback Dylan McCaffrey, who happens to be the brother of Stanford All-American RB Christian McCaffrey. The 6-foot-5, 195-pound signal-caller is the crown jewel of the 2017 group (even while some services have revoked the coveted fifth star for his prospect status) for the Wolverines, and Harbaugh's work with quarterback prospects has been phenomenal throughout his college tenure at San Diego, Stanford and now Michigan.
No college football coach has the sheer visibility of Jim Harbaugh in terms of his every move creating national news. With that said, this change in Twitter operating procedure will be quite interesting to follow, especially if it morphs into a tool to actually attract recruits, rather than simply pushing additional attention on players already pledged to spend their college career within the friendly confines of Ann Arbor.
