While the start of the 2016 season was kind to Jim Harbaugh and the Michigan Wolverines with a 60-point win, it has been a rough recruiting month for the program. Michigan lost three committed prospects within a 24-hour period in late August and, just hours before the team faces UCF in the Big House, another defection has occurred.

2018 four-star linebacker Antwuan Johnson is the latest to jump ship from Ann Arbor and this is a significant loss. Though Johnson isn't a top-100 prospect, he is a solid four-star across various recruiting platforms and, after his defection, Michigan now holds only one (!) commitment in the Class of 2018.
Obviously, there is plenty of time for Harbaugh and his top-flight recruiting staff to make adjustments for a class that is more than one year away, but this still isn't fantastic news. The Wolverines enjoying success on the field will certainly help in recruiting, but planning ahead is often a key part of consummating fantastic and deep recruiting classes, and Harbaugh's group has been pilfered in the last few weeks.
Michigan fans won't be terribly concerned about recruiting in September, but when they look up and realize the mass exodus has occurred, skepticism could reign supreme.
