The long-anticipated partnership between Jordan Brand and the Michigan Wolverines is now official, and Jim Harbaugh took to the streets of Ann Arbor to fire up the fan base. Michigan's on-campus apparel palace, M Den, was transformed into a wild scene for the unveiling of the first official Nike/Jordan merchandise at 12:01 am ET on Aug. 1 and Harbaugh addressed the crowd.
Though it was no surprise that Harbaugh was fiery in his speed, he revealed a somewhat controversial opinion in saying, "I've lived for 52 years, a lot of those years here in Ann Arbor, Michigan and I've never seen anything like this". That is, of course, an aggressive statement for a program that took home a national title in 1997 (along with a basketball title in 1989) but Harbaugh has a way with words and the crowd certainly seemed to appreciate his sentiment.
Michigan's new apparel line is now officially available, and given the war between the fan base and previous sponsor Adidas, the sparkling new gear should be flying off the shelves in a hurry. This certainly will not be the last time that college football fans will see Jim Harbaugh before the 2016 season gets underway, but with the "lockdown" procedures implemented by his staff in fall training camp, it could be the most animated version of Harbaugh available for public consumption until September.
Enjoy it.
