Father of five-star QB Justin Fields discusses the top teams in son's recruitment

Fields is the No. 1 overall recruit in the country.

Five-star quarterback Justin Fields has been the talk of the recruiting world ever since he decommitted from Penn State two months ago, as Fields has since risen to the No. 1 overall recruiting ranking in the country.

In a recent interview with Keith Niebuhr and Kipp Adams 247Sports, Fields' father — Ivant Fields — helped shed some more light on his son's recruitment, mostly continuing to tout Florida State, Auburn, and Georgia s the top teams for the five-star.

From 247Sports:

"It is a really easy drive. His idol, went there, Cam. It has some pros. Gus Malzahn is a great guy. I think Justin has a great relationship with (offensive coordinator) Chip Lindsey.

"You cannot deny [Florida State's] development," Ivant said. "Coach Fisher is a quarterback guru. Three first round picks with the last three starting quarterbacks. That is a big pro with Florida State."

"Georgia is great," Ivant Fields said. "They are here. Of course, my wife would love for the kids to be together. My daughter is already committed there for softball."

It seems like each of the three schools have their own special thing working their way, which makes the race for Fields more interesting. Ever since Fields decommitted from Penn State, a true leader hasn't really emerged in his recruitment, and these thoughts from Fields' father only confirm that all three of these teams legitimately have a shot to land the coveted five-star.

Fields is currently ranked as the No. 1 recruit in the nation by the 247Sports Composite and ESPN.
