Son of NFL legend in trouble with the law following drug citation

The Nebraska wideout is in a lot of trouble.

Keyshawn Johnson Jr. has big shoes to fill, as his father was a Pro Bowl wide receiver at the NFL level. The younger member of the Johnson family did not enter his college career with the quite the same pedigree as a three-star prospect but Johnson Jr. is enrolled as a true freshman at Nebraska. That lofty position brings with it responsibility of its own and, this time, it appears that Johnson Jr. fell short of it.

The Omaha World-Herald brings word that Johnson Jr. was given a citation on suspicion of marijuana possession on Friday. According to the report, the freshman wide receiver was also cited on possession of drug paraphernalia and it came after an official in his residence called police about a smell.

In response, the Nebraska football program released the following statement:

"Head coach Mike Riley and the athletics department are aware of the incident involving Keyshawn Johnson Jr. We will have no additional comment until we have all information regarding this matter."

More information will likely become available in the very near future but, for now, we know that Johnson Jr. was the only student involved in the incident. Stay tuned for any future fallout.
