Kyle Shanahan Rips De'Vondre Campbell, Makes Final Call on 49ers Future

Kyle Shanahan Rips De'Vondre Campbell

Despite the stakes being high in this matchup, the major takeaway from this game had nothing to do with the action on the field. It was focused on what happened on the sideline. 49ers linebacker De'Vondre Campbell refused to go in the game and was escorted off the field into the locker room area.

Following the decision, San Francisco head coach Kyle Shanahan said that Campbell would not be a part of the team moving forward.

"When someone says that, you move on. You don't deal with that anymore," Shanahan said. "That's somebody who doesn't want to play football, that's pretty simple. I think our team and myself, we know how we feel about that. So, I don't think we need to talk about him anymore."

Sean McVay Gets Candid on Matchup vs. 49ers

The Los Angeles Rams also fell victim to the injury bug this season. Both of their standout receivers Cooper Kupp and Puka Nakua have missed time this year due to injury. But their starting quarterback Matt Stafford has kept the team afloat, and they are beginning to find their groove as they have won three of their last four games. The stakes in Thursday's Night matchup were even more heightened for Stafford and crew. After their 12-6 win over the 49ers a Loss by the Seahawks, this week would give them the division lead.

Ahead of a pivotal division matchup against the 49ers, Rams head coach Sean McVay called this matchup a 'great challenge'

"There's a familiarity if that makes any sense, but it's a great challenge. They know us. We know them. There are some different things. We'll really dive into the prep pretty deeply after we finish up and some of the coaches have done a good job of getting ahead on some things," McVay said.

"It's a little bit more challenging just in terms of my rhythm and routine. I'll tell you what, you like the Thursday games after you get through it. It's a good grind all the way up to it."
