Lane Kiffin has been gone from Tuscaloosa for a few months but that hasn't stopped the always controversial former Alabama offensive coordinator from popping off about his time with the Crimson Tide. Kiffin, who is now the head coach at FAU, went on SiriusXM radio on Wednesday morning and he fired off a not-so-subtle jab at former boss Nick Saban.
It would be quite easy to remember a handful of occasions in which Saban teed off on Kiffin during Alabama games in the recent past and this seems to be a direct response to that. To be fair, Kiffin did not utter the name of "Nick Saban" during his interview but everyone jumped to the same conclusion because it is a very obvious one.
Saban has, as a result of his immense success, earned something of a free pass from the media for his on-field actions and that also needs to be mentioned. Not every assistant coach, Kiffin included, has responded well to the legendary head coach's treatment but the now-departed Kiffin will apparently act in a different manner for his next stint as the man in charge. As the partnership becomes more and more in the past, it seems likely that Kiffin won't reference Alabama at every turn but, until he stops, you never know.
