Lane Kiffin has hit the recruiting trail hard since taking over as the head coach at Florida Atlantic, but his latest move is a bit off the wall.

Kiffin extended an offer to quarterback Pierce Clarkson, who is the son of QB guru Steve Clarkson. The strange part of the offer is that Clarkson just finished the sixth grade, so he won't be in college until 2023.

This isn't a new technique from Kiffin. While he was the head coach at USC, Kiffin famously offered 13-year-old quarterback prospect David Sills, whom was also a student of Steve Clarkson.
Sills ended up committing to West Virginia, where he moved to wide receiver.
Clarkson also tutored Tate Martell, who received an offer from Washington at the age of 13.
Clarkson is one of the top QB coaches in the country. He has tutored Tim Tebow, Matt Leinart, Matt Barkley, Ben Roethlisberger, and several other prospects.
This is certainly the kind of move Kiffin likes to make to stay in the headlines. There's a pretty good chance he won't be at Florida Atlantic in 2023, but Clarkson will definitely remember receiving the offer from Kiffin this early on in the process.
