Louisiana State Police had issued the warrant last Friday, accusing Lacy of causing the crash, which killed 78-year-old Herman Hall, and then fleeing the scene.
According to Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office records obtained by ESPN, Lacy, 24, surrendered on Sunday night. He faces serious charges, including negligent homicide, felony hit-and-run with death, and reckless operation of a vehicle. After being booked, Lacy posted a $151,000 bond and was released.
The incident occurred on Louisiana Highway 20, when Lacy, driving a 2023 Dodge Charger, allegedly crossed the centerline at a high speed and passed multiple vehicles in a no-passing zone.
To avoid a head-on collision, the driver of a 2017 Kia Cadenza swerved to the right but ended up colliding with a 2017 Kia Sorento, in which Hall was a passenger. Hall later died from injuries sustained in the crash, while both drivers of the Kia vehicles sustained moderate injuries.
Lacy had an impressive 2023 season at LSU, recording 56 receptions for 866 yards and 9 touchdowns, and he had 16 touchdowns over the past two years.
He declared for the NFL Draft just two days after the crash on December 19. Earlier this season, Lacy had also drawn attention for a controversial celebration involving a violent act, which resulted in a penalty. The latest legal troubles now cast a dark cloud over what had been a promising football career.
